Magazine: 'Heron Preston Fall/Winter 19'

‘The American dream set in Paris. New York and Milan-based designer Heron Preston is experiencing exactly that’.

It was only six years ago that Preston, together with ALYX 1017 9SM founder Matthew Williams and street-luxe king du jour Virgil Abloh, formed hype brand Been Trill, the art collective and DJ crew turned Tumblr-inspired streetwear line.

Today, the three are among the most exciting and loudest names on the Paris menswear schedule, pioneering luxury for a younger crowd who don’t always feel connected with traditional luxury brands.

Heron Preston got his inspiration from his fascination with security guards and TSA agents, prohibited items and restricted areas for the Fall/Winter collection 2019. To compliment this the setting of a bustling airport terminal, complete with metal detectors, projections from surveillance cameras and multilingual PA announcements was used. This set the perfect tone for what walked out onto the runway.

The main focus of the streetwear collection for both men and women (a first for Preston) was the outwear. Upcycled pieces in the collection were created from decommissioned military parachutes and all cotton. Jersey and fleece in the collection were made exclusively with organic cotton.

For this collection sustainability and upcycling is a big thing. There was more emphasis on sustainable production and fabrics, as seen in the cotton, fleece, and jersey pieces made using organic materials. Not everything was new, however. There was plenty of familiarity in the collection as well. Much of the line was finished with orange detailing (one of the designer’s signatures) We saw popular items return such as the flaming skull and the heron bird image.

As you can expect from Heron, he stays true to his streetwear roots and unique designs. He created a fall/winter 19 collection that will fulfill your streetwear needs.
